Les Ward
Board Chair
Les Ward is currently employed as the General Manager for Pepsi of Florence/Pee Dee Foods. Originally from Kingsport, Tennessee, Les received his undergraduate degree in Management from the University of Tennessee. This is his first year as a board member for the United Way of Florence County and he joined the board to help impact the community. Les is married to his wife, Heather, and has four children, Hallie, Hanna, Sonner, and Leslie. His hobbies include F3, soccer, and golf and his ideal vacation would be in the mountains with his family. His favorite movie is My Cousin Vinny, his favorite author is Louis L'Amour.

Jeanette Altman
Campaign Chair
Jeanette Altman is currently employed as the Executive Director of the Continuum in Lake City. Originally from Spartanburg, SC, Jeanette received her undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University. Jeanette worked for Michelin Tire Corp. in Lexington, SC before moving to Lake City with her husband who is a Lake City native. Once in Lake City, Jeanette pivoted to the world of education. She was a math teacher and assistant principal before assuming the principalship at J. Paul Truluck Magnet School. In her current role, she works with schools, students, and businesses from all over the region connecting them with education and training offered at the Continuum.
She was involved with the United Way while working with Michelin and has seen the impact that the United Way can make in a community. Jeanette has two children and enjoys boating, watching sports, and spending time with her friends and family. Her ideal vacation is anywhere with warm weather and good food.​
Rich Rowlett
Secretary
Rich Rowlett is currently employed as the Site Leader of Florence Operations at Field Fastener.. Originally from South Beloit, Illinois, he attended Western Illinois University. Rich decided to join United Way because he loves to help out in his community and enjoys bringing smiles to people’s faces. He is married to his wife, Jackie, and has two children, Witten and Pierce. For his hobbies, Rich likes playing golf and baseball. His favorite TV show is Ozark, his favorite movie is Major League, and his favorite book is the Go Giver. His ideal vacation would be anywhere that he and his family could be together.
Dwayne Brockington
Treasurer
Dwayne Brockington is currently employed as the Vice President-Relationship Banker for First Reliance Bank. Originally from Mullins, Brockington received his B.S. in Biology from Francis Marion College and is also a graduate of the South Carolina School of Banking. Brockington joined the UWFC board eight years ago and decided to serve on the board because the United Way is a well-known agency that is committed to serving the Florence community by providing an array of services. He is married to his wife, Dara, and has two children, Kara and Nick. His hobbies include music and playing the piano and his ideal vacation would be relaxing on a beach. His favorite movies are Remember the Titans and the Blind Side.

Jill Lewis
Nominations Co-Chair
Jill Lewis is currently employed with Signature Wealth Strategies.A New York City native, Jill received her B.S. in Education from Penn State University. She has served on the UWFC board for over thirty years and chose to serve because she truly believes in the organization and the number of really excellent agencies that the UWFC assists. Jill also feels that the UWFC reaches many, many people with a variety of needs and emergencies, while also doing the homework to ensure that your money reaches the most critical needs. Jill is married to her husband, Dr. Joseph Lewis, and has three children, Adam, Christopher, and Nicole. Her hobbies include running, the beach, and enjoying time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her favorite TV shows are the news and the Voice, and her ideal vacation would be traveling through history or island hopping.

Irby Wilson

Irby Wilson is currently employed as the Director of Operations for the Orr Company. Irby is originally from Timmonsville, South Carolina, and received his undergraduate degree in Electronics from Florence-Darlington Technical College. He joined the UWFC board six years ago because he has always been a believer in the UWFC. Irby is married to his wife, Alvenia, and has two children, Kierston and Sharon. His hobbies include traveling, computers, and watching western movies.

Quincy Kennedy
CIC Chair
Quincy Kennedy is currently employed as the CCO of Signature Wealth Strategies. He received his B.S. in Finance and M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina and also serves on the board for the Florence County Voter Registration & Election Commission and chaired the United Way’s Community Investment Committee. Outside of his professional and philanthropic work, Quincy enjoys photography, hunting, flying, skydiving, and living life to the fullest.

Kayla Jebaily Adams
Jebaily Law Firm
Kayla Jebaily Adams is an associate attorney at Jebaily Law Firm in Florence. She grew up surrounded by the legal profession, having worked in various roles at the firm. Her family’s commitment to helping those in need inspired her to pursue a legal career focused on personal injury, workers’ compensation, and Social Security disability cases.
Before law school, Kayla served as the Director of Philanthropy for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2024 and holds a Master of Social Work and a B.A. in Political Science. Deeply committed to her community, Kayla enjoys connecting with clients and volunteers with local organizations. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and her two dogs, Benji and Beans.
James Aikens
ADP Tax Credit Services
James Aikens is currently employed at Automated Data Processing (ADP) as the Director of Government Affairs. James has worked for ADP for 25 years and lived in 5 other states. He attended Arizona State where he majored in Accounting. He began his career as a Solution Center Manager for National Accounts in Clifton, NJ. Since then, he’s held several positions, such as Director of Account Management; Director of Operations; Director of Client Services; Director of Helpdesk; Director of Implementation, and currently Director of Government Affairs.

He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. and has been a franchise owner of the national franchise, Rita’s Italian Ice, for 16 years. His other roles outside ADP include Operations Officer for Chevy Chase Bank; Call Center Manager for America West Airlines; and Director of Client Services for Sprint.

Excited about exceeding expectations and spirited teamwork, he keeps an open mind on viewing challenges as there is always a better way.
Kay Andrews
PGBA
Kay Andrews is currently employed as the Vice President, Operations for PGBA, LLC/Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. Originally from McBee, South Carolina, Kay received her Administrative Management degree from Clemson University and has been in the Florence Area for thirty years. She has served on the UWFC board for eight years and joined because she felt the UWFC significantly impacts the residents of Florence County, providing the ability for partner agencies to touch and improve the lives of many of our neighbors each year. She also feels that by partnering with these agencies, the UWFC is not limited to reaching a specific area or age group. Instead, a multitude of programs that address critical community needs are made available and reach all ages, from young babies to seniors. Kay is married to her husband, Charles, and has two children, Matthew and Claire. In her free time, she enjoys walking, reading, cooking, and watching her favorite TV show, Grey's Anatomy. Her ideal vacation would be a Caribbean cruise.
Nikkoya Bass
Assurant
Nikkoya Bass is currently employed at Assurant as a Manager of Operations & Services III. She received her undergraduate degree from Francis Marion University and later went on to obtain her Master of Science degree in Psychology. Nikkoya has worked with Assurant for over 15 years and has held several positions throughout her professional career.
Nikkoya is very active in the community and is an Engagement Lead for Assurant. She volunteers for many organizations and currently serves on the board for Diversity Works. Nikkoya has been involved with United Way as a Campaign Coordinator for several years and as a member of the Collective Impact Task Force. She has seen the impact that United Way has in the community and is excited to serve on the board.
Nikkoya has two children, Nia and Keith. She enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Her ideal vacation is a trip to the islands and relaxing on the beach with beautiful water, pristine sand, and clear skies.
Bryan Braddock
SC Congressional District 7
Bryan Braddock serves Congressman Russell Fry and the Citizens of South Carolina Congressional District 7 as the Economic Development and Outreach Director. Previously Bryan was the CEO of House of Hope, a nonprofit ministry to the homeless, for 10 years. Originally from Florence, South Carolina, Bryan received a B.A. in Economics at Francis Marion University. Bryan attended the Indiana School of Philanthropy and gained a Certificate in Fundraising Management and a Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership. By joining United Way, he wishes to help local nonprofits achieve their mission of helping the community. He is married to his wife, Tracey, and has four children: Hannah, Haley, Hayden, and Holly. In his free time, Bryan enjoys jiu-jitsu, guitar, and OCR races.
Ashley Christenbury
First Bank
Ashley Christenbury is currently employed as a Business Development Officer and Vice President at First Bank. Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, Ashley graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a B.A. in Business Administration. She has decided to join United Way of Florence County as a way to get involved, engage with the community, and serve others. She is married to her husband, Kyle, and has two children, Jayden and Liam. In her free time, Ashley enjoys cruising, shopping, and football.

Cameron Coker
McLeod Health
Cameron Coker is a native of Florence and graduate of Wilson High School from the International Baccalaureate program in 2004. He then served his country as a US Marine including an extended tour in Iraq and being meritoriously promoted to Sargent before his honorable discharge from military service. Cam graduated from Francis Marion with a degree in business finance and then from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with an MBA.
Cam is currently the Chief Operating Officer of McLeod Physician Associates (MPA) which is the employed medical group entity of McLeod Health. MPA employs over 400 physicians and another 200+ Advanced practice providers in over 90 locations throughout the entire Pee Dee and including Myrtle Beach. Cam has been at McLeod for 13 years and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration.
Cam is honored to serve on the United Way Board because of the opportunity to make an impact in his hometown. Cam and his wife, Emily, have 4 children ages 16,13, 7, and 6. When he is not at a child’s sporting event, Cam can be found running in the neighborhood, birdwatching, and spending time with friends and family.
Jamie Floyd
Florence County
Jamie Floyd is currently employed with Florence County as the Assistant Assessor. Originally from Lake City, SC; Jamie is married to his wife Michelle and has three children, Madison, Brooke, and Brendan. He decided to join the United Way of Florence County board because he believes involving Florence County with United Way would be a huge gain for both organizations. In his free time, Jamie enjoys hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his children. His favorite movie is The Count of Monte Cristo.

Michael Hemingway
City of Florence
Michael Hemingway has been employed with the City of Florence, South Carolina since July 2002. Michael currently serves as the Economic Development and Utility Planning Director, having held prior positions of Utilities Director October 2011 to November 2022, Production & Treatment Department Manager 2008 to 2011, Production and Treatment Division Manager 2006 to 2008, and Wastewater Division Manager 2002 to 2006.
Michael completed his undergraduate studies at Clemson University and received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, graduating in 1993. Michael also received a Master of Business Administration in 1999 from Francis Marion University, and a Master Certification Health Administration and Policy, in 1999 from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Michael has served on the following organizations: Member and former President of the Pee Dee District Water Environment Association of South Carolina, South Carolina Sustainability Advisory Committee, Rural Infrastructure Authority, Member of the Board of Directors for Health Care Partners of South Carolina, Former Marion County Planning Commission Member, and a Former Member of Marion School District Seven School Board of Trustees.
Michael is currently licensed by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Environmental Certification Board as a licensed South Carolina Biological Wastewater Operator, South Carolina Water Operator, and South Carolina Distribution Operator, as well as a licensed South Carolina Collection System Operator through the South Carolina Water Environment Federation.
Dr. Laura Hickson
Florence School District 3
Dr. Laura Hickson serves as the superintendent of Florence County School District Three. With over 40 years of experience in education, she has held a variety of positions including classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of accountability and federal programs, assistant superintendent, and her current role as superintendent. Dr. Hickson holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from South Carolina State University, a Master of Education from Cambridge, and administrative certification from The Citadel and South Carolina State University.
She is also an active participant in school and district accreditation reviews, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with educational institutions. Dr. Hickson's favorite quote is "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela​
Troy Jemison

Troy Jemison has recently retired from a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in various leadership roles. With a background in Business Administration, Troy has held pivotal positions such as Director of Operations, Senior Plant Director, and Multiple Site Plant Manager throughout his tenure. Troy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Wagner College, where he laid the foundation for his successful career in management.

Originally from Montgomery, New York, Troy shares his life with his beloved spouse, Freida Jemison. Together, they have raised two wonderful children: Drew, aged 30, and Courtney, aged 29. Outside of his professional commitments, Troy finds joy in pursuing his hobbies, which include driving his Corvette, playing golf, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular workouts.
Troy's favorite TV show is Game of Thrones, and he enjoys classic movies like The Godfather.. When it comes to vacations, Troy's ideal getaway involves spending two weeks in the picturesque setting of Hawaii, soaking in the sun and enjoying the beauty of the islands. Troy lives by the motto, "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough."

Shanequa Joe is a dynamic and accomplished entrepreneur driven by a profound passion for service. Having proudly served her country as a military veteran, Shanequa transitioned into civilian life and forged a successful career in real estate. Founding Nextdoor Realty, she emerged as an industry leader renowned for her strategic vision, innovative approach, and unwavering commitment to excellence.​ Shanequa's journey in real estate commenced over three years ago in her hometown of Florence County, where she began as a real estate agent. Through sheer determination, hard work, and an acute understanding of the market, she swiftly ascended the ranks, eventually establishing Nextdoor Realty.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Shanequa finds fulfillment in her roles as a devoted wife to Mr. Ricardo Joe and a loving mother to their three children, Ki, Madison, and Sundai. Family holds a central place in her heart, and she treasures every moment spent with them, nurturing an environment of love and support to foster their growth and happiness.​

Mathew Langston

Mathew Langston is currently employed as CFO of Gray Fox Strategic. Mathew is originally from Florence and received his undergraduate degree in Business Finance and Management and his M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. Langston joined the UWFC board to be a part of an organization that supports the Florence community and the many individuals who live here. He is married to his wife, Heather, and has two children, Maddox and Noah. In his free time, Langston enjoys tennis, golf, hunting, and "living the dream". His favorite TV show is Sports Center and his favorite movie is Remember the Titans. Langston's ideal vacation would be an all-inclusive stay in the Caribbean.

Perry MacLennan
Raines Co.
Perry serves as General Counsel for the Raines Company where he oversees all legal affairs for the Company. Raines is a hotel ownership, investment, and operations company with hotels located throughout the United States. He was previously a shareholder at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. where he practiced law for 10 years. Perry lives in Florence with his wife Jenna, who is an OBGYN at McLeod Hospital in Florence. They have two children, Cile (age 3) and Pierce (age 1). Outside of work, Perry loves to travel, exercise, and play golf and tennis.
Joie Reynolds
Duke Energy
Joie Reynolds is currently employed as Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager for Duke Energy. Originally from the Midwest, Joie fell in love with Florence when she moved here over 15 years ago. She received her undergraduate degree in Science from Central Carolina and is an ISA Certified Arborist. Joie is currently pursing an additional degree in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. Joie has been active in her community through volunteerism with the Boys and Girls Club of the Pee Dee, Trees SC and the United Way and joined the board to continue to serve and work alongside others who share her same passion for service. Joie lives in Florence with her husband, Brad, who also works for Duke Energy and their two children. Together with her family, Joie enjoys kayaking, camping and traveling. While serving abroad, Joie adopted a phrase that she’s devoted to living by ever since: “It’s a joy to serve!”
Chipper Smith
Smith Funeral Home
Lawrence Smith II, LFD is a lifelong resident of Florence. He is the husband of Alyssia Smith and the father of Alyse Journi Smith and J. Lawrence Smith III. He is a 2011 graduate of Wilson High School and furthered his education at Maryland Eastern Shore University earning a B.S. in Business Administration. He is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service earning a degree in Mortuary Science. Lawrence is the Vice President of Smith Funeral Home and Sunset Memory Gardens.
Since returning to Florence, Lawrence has been active in his community serving on boards such as the Boys and Girls Club of the Pee Dee, the Florence Housing Authority, and the United Way of Florence. He has the honor of also being the Head Baseball Coach at Wilson High School. He is a Brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a member of the Florence Branch of the NAACP and the Wilson High School Alumni Association.
