The United Way of Florence County has announced two leaders, plus a theme and a slogan for its 2016-17 campaign.

Quincy Kennedy of Signature Wealth Strategies is the 2016-17 board chairman.

John Cariati of Assurant Specialty Property is the 2016-2017 campaign chairman.

The theme of the campaign is Western.

The slogan is “Giddy Up and Give to United Way.”

Kennedy also served as the 2015-16 chairman of the board.

“When you have someone that is just the right fit and excels beyond your expectations in a position, it’s hard to let them go,” said Wendy Bird, the United Way of Florence County president.  “Quincy provided great expertise and leadership during the last campaign year and we are very thankful that he decided to stay on another year with us.”

Cariati has served on the United Way of Florence County board for more than eight years. He said he is honored to be chairman of the annual campaign, which usually raises more than $1.1 million in donations each year to benefit 17 partner agencies, 26 programs and more than 25,000 individuals in the county.

“Our Western theme brings a lot of fun into our campaign this year, but it also has an important message about giving,” Cariati said. “When we ask you to ‘Giddy Up and Give,’ you can not only give a monetary donation, which is used to really drive change in the community, but you can support the United Way even further by giving your voice and your time through advocacy and volunteering.”

Kennedy is the chief compliance officer of Signature Wealth Strategies and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of investments. He received his B.S. in finance and M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. He serves on the board for the Florence County Voter Registration and Election Commission and headed the United Way’s Community Investment Committee. Outside of his professional and philanthropic work, Kennedy enjoys photography, hunting, flying and skydiving.

Cariati is the operational quality manager at Assurant in Florence and Duluth, Georgia, and has worked for the company for eight years. He is originally from Pittsburgh. Cariati also serves on the board for the Pee Dee Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Assault. In his free time, Cariati enjoys traveling with his family, DIY projects, hunting and motocross.
