The 2015-2016 United Way of Florence County campaign is drawing to a close, but there is still time to support the Florence County community through your donations.

Every year, the United Way of Florence County holds a campaign to fund raise for local non-profits in the Florence County area. This campaign not only provides non-profits with more funds for their programs, but it also allows the non-profits to focus more of their time, money, and effort on improving lives in the community instead of worrying about raising donations. This year, the money raised through the campaign will go to support the seventeen agencies listed below:

  • American Red Cross-Eastern SC Chapter
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area
  • The Care House of the Pee Dee
  • The Chrysalis Center of Circle Park
  • Civil Air Patrol
  • Florence Area Literacy Council
  • Florence County Disabilities & Special Needs
  • Florence Family YMCA
  • Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina
  • Lighthouse Ministries
  • Mercy Medicine FREE Clinic
  • Pee Dee Area Big Brothers/Big Sisters
  • Pee Dee Area Council Boy Scouts of America
  • Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault
  • Pee Dee Speech & Hearing Center
  • Salvation Army
  • Senior Citizens Association in Florence County

We have carefully selected these seventeen agencies to support with our campaign because we believe they provide a necessary service to the Florence County area and its residents. Some of these services include:

  • One-on-one tutoring to help adults learn how to read
  • Home delivery of meals to the elderly
  • Therapy sessions for children with speech and language disorders
  • Emergency safe shelters for battered women
  • Shelter, utilities, and medication provisions for families in need
  • Respite care for individuals with lifelong disabilities

As a new incentive to help DRIVE up donations, we are very excited to be giving away a twelve-month lease on a brand new car! Through a partnership with Mike Reichenbach, we will be drawing the name of one lucky donor who will receive a twelve-month lease on a brand new car from the Mike Reichenbach dealership. To be eligible for the drawing all you need to do is make a donation of $100 or more to the United Way of Florence County. Each $100 donation equals one entry into the drawing, so the more you donate, the more chances you have to win! The last day to make a donation to be eligible for the contest is April 8, 2016 and the finalists will be selected on April 11, 2016.

Even if you are not selected as the winner for the car, you will still have a chance to win one of our three other incredible prizes! After the winner of the car has been selected, we will draw three winners from the remaining eligible donors to win either a 46” HD Flat Screen TV with Xbox Kinect, a three-night stay at the Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort in Myrtle Beach, or a Coleman Road Trip Propane Grill!

You can also make donations to the campaign through our Biggest Loser contestants. Referred to as Brownie Points, the donations help show support to the contestants as they start this journey into losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle. The contestant who collects the most Brownie Points by the end of the competition (March 24th) will win a six month membership to the McLeod Health and Fitness Center.
